Weight Loss Supplements: Best Over-the-counter Supplements

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

Fad diets come and go; and weight loss supplements go the same way too. Every season of every year, something “new and exciting” comes up and they all end up just like last week’s nuked chicken dinner: at the back of the fridge with hopes that no one will ever recall it ever happened. We all know how difficult it is to lose weight. Just think about it for a second, if it is that easy to stay healthy but slim, wouldn’t everyone be looking exactly like that?

In any case, fad diets and weight loss supplements have their share of the market because people do want to lose those extra flabby arms, and that triple lifesaver around the waist, and those rolling thighs. However, it should be noted that not everything you can avail of from the pharmacist without a prescription can actually be good for you. It is important to get medical advice when trying out a new diet or a weight loss supplement (or any dietary supplement for that matter.) People have varying medical conditions and what may be great for Veronica, may not exactly be good for Betty.

As far as side effects are concerned, people are noticing that there are a couple of positive side effects when taking acai capsules. Acai capsules are weight loss supplements with acai extract. These capsules are usually made from: amazon acai berry or brazilian acai berry, or a blend of both with the usual prescription of 2 capsules per day. Because of the seeming low or no occurrences of negative side effects, these capsules can easily be bought over the counter, and a bottle of 60 capsules can cost as little as $10.

As weight loss supplement, acai provides a variety of benefits. For one thing, it dramatically helps increase fiber in the diet. And we all know that fiber is the best natural laxative that our body could have. This is a wonderful tool to people who are trying to shed off unwanted pounds. Fiber, not only encourages regular bowel movement, but helps remove the toxins that may otherwise hamper weight loss.

However, weight loss should not only be about the elimination of toxins in the body. The extracts of this dark purplish berry have rich supplies of omega3 and omega6 fatty acids. These are 2 essential fatty acids which our bodies cannot create on its own, but are more than essential in increasing our metabolism. In turn, increased metabolism means that we burn up calories faster which promotes weight loss as well. Additionally, a faster metabolism also gives us the much needed energy boosts, since the food that is digested is converted immediately into the body’s fuel source.

Faster metabolism also means that there are fewer chances for unwanted fats to stay in our digestive system and be absorbed by the blood stream. Once the unwanted fats from our daily diet are flushed out, the body can concentrate on burning up the stored fats already in our bodies, helping us to further slim down.

And one more element found in most acai-based weight loss supplement is Photosterols. This complex compound helps maintain the healthy (or improve the health) of the digestive system. This is essential in promoting regular bowel movement, in the absorption of correct minerals, and the expelling of toxins in the body.
